Irma Is Still With Us…

Hurricane Irma hit Daytona Beach September 9, 2017. We left the city. After the Hurricane I received the call from the condo Association Board Member that Irma took the roof over Kingston Shores condo, the investment condo in Ormond Beach. There was no roof, you could see the sky.

It was a beautiful classy condo remodeling. We were so proud of it…

Our 25-y.o. grandson stayed in Daytona, so we asked him to try to drive there and look. He called and said it was not that bad. Yes, the roof was gone, but the rest, according to him, was in good shape, even the kitchen. That was good news…

In couple of days we came back and our first visit was to this condo in Ormond. The association already had arranged and the tarp was up, so we did not have the view of the blue sky, but there was standing water all over. The beautiful kitchen looked fine only until you try to open the door or pull the drawer… This is how it looked.

The ceiling was sagging and looked wavy, not a single door was closing. Everything soaked in water, dripping everywhere… From the ceiling, running out of all switches, light fixtures… just everywhere…

It was a complete disaster.

Yesterday we finally finished what was basically a second complete remodel. I do not have words to describe it. We are in the middle of a planned remodel and had to stop doing it. And this was not the only destroyed condo. So, yes, the Hurricane is long gone, but we still reliving it.
